Baseball Riding Seven-Game Winning Streak Into Midweek Clash With Rider

PHILADELPHIA – Winners of seven straight, the University of Pennsylvania baseball team seeks to continue its hot streak on Wednesday afternoon against the Rider Broncs from Meiklejohn Stadium.

The Series: Rider
Wednesday marks the first matchup between the two teams since a home-and-home in 2006 and 2007. Each team won on the other's home field, with Rider winning at Meiklejohn in 2006 and Penn winning in Lawrenceville, N.J. in 2007.

* The Quakers are just three victories shy of tying the program record for wins in a season (29) set in 1989.
 
* Penn has strung together multiple winning streaks of at least seven games in the same season for the first time since 1975.
 
* For the first time under head coach John Yurkow, three Penn hurlers have won at least five games (Owen Coady, Kevin Eaise, Joe Miller) and 11 pitchers have won at least one.
 
* Penn's entire infield (first baseman Ben Miller, second baseman Cole Palis, shortstop Craig Larsen, third baseman Wyatt Henesler) have each started all 35 games this season, as have left fielder Seth Werchan and center fielder Tommy Courtney.

26 • With their three-game sweep of Brown last weekend, the Quakers won their 26th game of the season, just the third time in program history to win more than 25 games in a season.

33/56 • Penn has outscored its opponents by 33 runs during its seven-game win streak. The Quakers have also scored 56 more runs than their opponents overall during their recent 11-1 stretch.

364 • With nine strikeouts on Sunday, the Quakers set a new team record with 364 strikeouts in a season, breaking the previous record of 358 set in 2018.

Socractes Bardatsos and John Volpe are each hitting over .300 for the Broncs. Brendan O'Donnell is hitting just .268 but leads the team with 12 homers and a slugging percentage over .600.
 
On the hill, Dylan Heine has a 1.64 ERA in six appearances, totaling 11 innings. Danny Kirwin has a 3.00 ERA in 15 appearances. Kyle Smith has allowed just five earned runs over his last 17 innings and Brian Young has allowed just two earned runs in his last 12 innings.
