PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania softball team is on the road for its final Ivy road series of 2022. The Quakers will take on Princeton with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Penn enters the weekend 10-24 and 5-7 in Ivy play while Princeton is 19-13-1 overall and 11-4 in Ivy contests.

Previewing Penn
Penn picked up a 3-2 victory over its 33rd Street neighbor on Wednesday evening. Pitching showed up for both teams as all five runs were scored in the fourth inning. Drexel took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth off a two-out double to right center. The Quakers responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs on four consecutive base hits.

Emma Nedley, and
Sammy Fenton all collected an RBI in the win.
Bella Fiorentino made the start in the circle for the Quakers pitching four innings of two run ball allowing seven hits and stranding five runners on base. Fiorentino was effective in keeping the Dragons from taking an early lead as she worked around a one-out triple in the top of the first and stranded another pair of runners in the second inning.
Payton Bean took over in the circle for the Red and Blue as she pitched three shutout innings allowing just one hit to earn her first save.
Sarah Schneider leads the Penn offense in several categories including hits (32), runs scored (28), RBI (19), home runs (9), doubles (9), and stolen bases (10). S. Schneider and
Bella Fiorentino lead the team with a .317 average.
Olivia Szewczyk leads the Penn pitching with a 4.42 ERA in 25.1 innings pitched.
Julia Longo has seen the most time in the circle, she is 4-12 with a 6.22 ERA in 81 innings pitched and have struck out a team-high 49 batters.
Previewing the Tigers
Princeton is coming off a three-game sweep of Yale. The Tigers have been idle for a week as they prepare for their series with the Quakers. As a team, Princeton is leading the Ivy League with a .289 batting average. Their offense is led by Adrienne Chang's .388 average and leads the team with 38 hits on the season. Alexis Laudenslager leads the pitching staff with a 2.50 ERA and combined with Ali Blanchard have combined to pitch 155 of the teams 216 innings.
