Baseball Hosts Lehigh In Midweek Keystone State Showdown

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania and Lehigh University baseball teams will put their six-game winning streaks on the line Wednesday afternoon when the Mountain Hawks make the drive down the Northeast Extension for a 2 p.m. first pitch at Meiklejohn Stadium. Please note the time change, this game was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. but has been moved up to 2 p.m. due to impending inclement weather.
 
The Quakers come into the mid-week matchup fresh off a three-game sweep of Wagner College last weekend.

The Series: Lehigh
This teams have met 118 times, with Penn holding an 83-31-4 advantage over Lehigh, including a 3-0 mark under W. Joseph Blood Head Coach John Yurkow.
 
Heintz Heat, 2.0
Danny Heintz was virtually untouchable last week, striking out seven of the nine men he faced, walking one, and recording one fly out, the only ball put in play against the sophomore. On Sunday against Wagner, Heintz struck out all five hitters he faced in 1.2 innings of work, lowering his batting average against for the season to .083. 

Zaf-zeroes, 2.0
Cole Zaffiro was as dominant on the mound last week as Heintz, striking out eight batters in 4.1 innings across two appearances, giving him 13 strikeouts in his last 8.1 innings of work, while allowing just five hits and two walks.

Craig the Crusher
Craig Larsen is on a nine-game hitting streak, during which time he's gone 14-for-37 with six runs scored and 11 RBI. On Saturday against the Seahawks, the senior captain delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning.
 
Asa of Diamonds
Asa Wilson was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after going 5-for-12 with four runs scored and a pair of RBI in three starts last week against Monmouth and Wagner. On Sunday, he launched his first career home run as Penn completed the sweep of the Seahawks.
 
Scouting Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks have scored 69 runs during their six-game winning streak, including a four-game sweep of St. Bonaventure over the weekend.
 
Lehigh has six everyday players hitting over .320 with OPS' over .880, with Justin Butler's .367 average, 1.316 OPS, seven home runs and 18 RBI all leading the team.
 
The Lehigh pitching staff comes into Tuesday with a 4.42 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP, with opponents hitting just .242.
