PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania softball team returns to the east coast for a mid-week doubleheader at Delaware State on Wednesday afternoon. Game one is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch. Both teams have struggled to find wins over the opening weeks of the season. Penn is currently 2-13 while DSU is 1-11.

Previewing Penn
Penn went winless against tough competition during its Spring Break trip to the West Coast. The Quakers battled in their opening game against Fresno State, erasing a 4-0 deficit with three runs to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning. However, Penn gave up three runs in the top of the eighth and could only get one of them back,

Previewing the Hornets
DSU picked up its first win on Sunday as they defeated Elon, 4-3. The Hornets have struggled to score runs having been outscored 92-11 in 12 games played. Jaelyn Baker leads the team with a .250 average, seven hits, and is tied with McKenna Moore with three RBI. As a pitching staff, they have a 7.51 ERA. They have struck out 25 batters and given up 33 walks and 13 home runs. Opponents have recorded a .372 average.
