Henseler and Coady Earn Baseball's First Ivy Weekly Honors Of The Season

PHILADELPHIA – A dominant weekend at the plate for Wyatt Henseler and a dominant outing on the mound for Owen Coady have netted the University of Pennsylvania baseball duo the league's first Player of the Week and Pitcher of the week honors for the 2022 season, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

In Penn's season-opening series win over Texas A&M, Henseler went 6-for-10 with four extra-base hits, four RBI, two runs scored, while drawing two walks for an OBP of .667 and an OPS of 1.867. In Penn's 8-5, come-from-behind, series-clinching win Sunday night, Henseler went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, driving in three.

Coady picked up the win for the Quakers in their opener on Friday after tossing 4.2 innings of shutout relief, scattering four hits while striking out eight batters, including two each in the eighth and ninth innings. Coady stranded five Aggies on the bases during his outing, as Texas A&M went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position against the junior southpaw. Coady has not allowed a run over his last three appearances, totaling 10.2 innings dating back to last season.

The Quakers open a four-game series with Wofford at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 4, kicking off a nine-game, 10-day trip through South Carolina.
