STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania track and field programs kicked off their indoor season on Friday afternoon at the Seahawk Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, as six program top-10 marks were penciled in including three by freshmen.

The 60m hurdles for both the men and women had program marks. On the women's side,
Katherine Muccio etched a new personal record to hold her at sixth in program history with a time of 8.61 for third in the race, while
Aliya Garozzo took fifth with a time of 8.72 to bump into ninth in program history.

On the men's side, in his first collegiate race,
Shane Gardner registered a third-place finish with a time of 8.11, a mark good enough for fifth in program history.

The record book was hit again in the 60m, this time by a pair of freshmen.
Moforehan Abinusawa, not only took first place in the race with a time of 7.52, but also placed her name as third in program history. She was followed closely in by
Christiana Nwachuku for a third-place finish with a time of 7.59, putting her seventh in program history. Muccio also earned a top-10 finish in the race, taking eighth with a time of 7.82.

On the infield,
Tamara Grahovac registered the last record-book mark, taking second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.03m (39-5.75), a clearance for seventh in history.
Ijeoma Eziri also competed in the triple with Grahovac, taking third with an 11.70m (38-4.75) in her first collegiate outing.

On top of Abinusawa's top finish in the 60m, the Quakers registered several other victories on Friday.

On the women's side, Garozzo led in the top five spots for Penn in the 600m, clocking a time of 1:32.49. She was followed in by
Isabella Whittaker (1:32.64),
Jocelyn Niemiec (1:33.74),
Lily Orr (1:35.21), and
Megan Webb (1:35.80).

The women also took the top two spots in the 4x400. A grouping of Niemiec, Abinusawa, Muccio, and Garozzo (3:50.87) edged out the other grouping of Nwachuku, Gelli,
Laura Gugliotta, and Whittaker (3:51.75) by under a second.

On the infield,
Sarah Lavery earned the top spot in the high jump, clearing 1.60m (5-3). At the pole vault,
Kai Eisenhardt and
Meghan Hart needed a jump off to decide the victor after tying with a 3.55m (11-7.75). In the jump off, Eisenhardt prevailed with a clearance of 3.70m (12-1.5) to earn the win while Hart took second.

Some additional events of note for the women was the 300m where Abinusawa took second with a time of 38.56, and Nwachuku (39.76) and Gugliotta (40.66) came through behind in the fifth and eighth, respectively. In the 3,000m,
Anastasia Russell took second with a time of 10:16.25, while
Danielle Peck took ninth with a time of 11:12.06. At the mile, Arielle Brueninger registered fourth with a time of 5:18.13.

On the men's side,
Emerson Douds took first in the 300m (34.30), leading in
Dimitri Nicholson (34.57) and
Andrew O'Donnell (34.93) for third and fifth, in that order.

At the 4x400, the Quakers took the top two spots as well. The grouping of Nicholson, Douds, O'Donnell, and
Antaures Jackson (3:16.28) held off
Devante Heywood,
Liam O'Hara,
Nick Faries, and
Alec Jackson (3:17.64).

The last victory of the day came on the infield at the high jump, seeing
Conrad Moore clear 2.00m (6-6.75) for first place. The infield also had a pair of second-place finishes, as
Olatide Abinusawa threw 16.22m (53-2.75) in the shot put and Benedikt Sachta cleared 4.70m (15-5) in the pole vault.

Some additional event of note for the men included the 60m where Nicholson narrowly took second with a time of 6.89. In the 600m,
Antaures Jackson edged out his brother
Alec Jackson for second place with a time of 1:20.64. Alec came through at 1:21.02.
Robbie Ruppel (1:21.19) took fourth,
Kyle Miller (1:21.44) took sixth, and Faries (1:21.89) earned ninth.

At the 1,000m,
Liam Going led in a slew of Penn runners with a second-place finish on a time of 2:29.88.
Matthew Fernando (2:31.13),
Silas Ruth (2:31.59),
Charlie King (2:31.97), and
Nicolas Pizarro (2:33.59) all top-six finishes.

The Quakers will take the next month to train and enjoy the holidays before heading back up to Ocean Breeze for the annual Penn 10-Team Select on Saturday, January 14.
