PHILADELPHIA - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released it latest national rankings and the University of Pennsylvania women's team had a trio of players earn recognition.
Senior
Iuliia Bryzgalova was tabbed No. 53 and freshman
Sabine Rutlauka is No. 81 in the singles rankings, Bryzgalova and graduate student
Marija Curnic are ranked as the No. 30 doubles team.
This fall, Bryzgalova and Curnic were selected to compete at the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships. The doubles team advanced to the second round as their first-round opponent withdrew due to injury. The two split the next two matches defeating Ole Miss and then falling to UVA in the semifinals.
Rutluka made a memorable collegiate debut in September cruising to a singles victory in the Brooklyn Bracket at the Columbia Invitational, defeating opponents from Yale, Columbia and Charlotte. Rutluka teamed up with junior
Amanda Chan to advance their way to the ITA Super Regional with wins against Lehigh and Cornell. The duo advanced to the semifinals with wins against Boston College and Temple before falling to Yale.
