2021 Temple Open Full Results
PHILADELPHIA – In the first event for each program in 19 months, the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's fencing teams posted numerous high finishers at the Temple Open this weekend.
The women's team posted three of the top 5 epeeists, the top finisher in foil, and both the winner and third-place finisher in sabre.
The men's team posted three of the top 7 finishers in epee, the top two foilists, and four of the top 17 sabreists.
Meet Results -- Women
> Freshman
Katina Proestakis Ortiz took the top spot in foil in and
Vivian Lu made it two freshman top finishers for the Quakers when she finished first in sabre.
> Junior
Jessica Liang, a First-team All-America during her only season of competition in 2019-20, took second in epee, one spot ahead of fellow 2019-20 All-America
Vanessa Dib and
Chloe Daniel, who tied for third, giving the Quakers multiple Top 10 finishers in each weapon.
> Sophomore
Sabrina Cho and freshman
Talia Becker Calazans tied for sixth in foil, while freshman
Justina Lam took eighth, giving the Quakers multiple Top 10 finishers in each weapon.
Grace Hao (T22nd) and
Julia Thompson (35th) rounded out the Quaker foilists,
> Sophomore
Shirley Guo made it four Top 10 finishers in epee, placing seventh in her first collegiate meet.
Yunice Pyo (24th),
Madeline Adams-Kim (34th) and Kristine Khaw (52nd) rounded out the weapon's finishers.
> In sabre, junior
Amber White finished in third,
Sarah Hilado finished 23rd and freshman
Hailey Lu finished 28th. Senior
Lark Izenson (39th), sophomore
Sapphira Ching (43rd), and freshman
Erica Wu (44th) rounded out the competing Quakers.

> Sophomore
Bryce Louie took first place in foil, defeating fellow Quaker
Blake Broszus in the final round. Louie reached the final round after knocking off freshman
Eric Yu in the semifinals.
> Freshman
Isaac Herbst took second in epee, one spot ahead of his brother,
Eliot Herbst, who tied for third, while senior
Emon Daroian tied for sixth, and freshman
Arthur Andreev finished 15th.
> Senior
Xiteng Lin was Penn's high finisher in sabre, taking third.
> Among the foilists, senior
Jerry Wu finished 22nd, junior
Emerson Blutt, and freshman
Finn McMullan finished 33rd
> In epee, senior
James Armstrong finished 18th, four spots ahead of sophomore
Hugh Milam.
> Sophomore
Marcel Merchant finished 15th, freshman
Marshall Hong finished 16th, and freshman
Nicholas Molina finished 17th in sabre, while junior
Enzo Bergamo finished 34th.
