Field Hockey Prepares For Ivy Matchup At Brown Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team travels to Rhode Island on Saturday for an Ivy League matchup at Brown.

The Series with Brown
The Quakers are riding a nine-game win streak against the Bears, while holding a 32-8-3 all-time series record. The nine-straight games date back to October 29, 2011. Penn has won the last seven matchups in Providence.

Last Time We Met
In November 2019, the two teams met on Goldberger Field for a 3-2 decision in favor of Penn. Erin Kelly and Erin Quinn opened the scoring for the Quakers, finding the back of the cage twice in the first five minutes. Alexa Schneck put away the game winner on a penalty stroke in the 56th minute.  
 
About Brown
The Bears enter Saturday's game with a 6-6 overall record and 2-1 in Ivy play. This past weekend, they played two games in two days, defeating Columbia 1-0 on Saturday before dropping a 2-1 overtime decision at home against Lafayette.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*The Quakers earned their first Ivy victory last Saturday, defeating Cornell with six seconds left in the first overtime, 2-1, off a finish by Meghan Ward. It was her second game-winner of the season, scoring the other against Villanova.

*Lis Zandbergen sent out the assist to Ward, her first collegiate point.

*Penn sports a 4-6 record heading into its Saturday tilt with all six losses coming to top-20 opponents: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Louisville, No. 9 Saint Joseph's, No. 12 Syracuse, No. 12 Harvard, and No. 17 Princeton.

*Six Quakers lead the team in scoring with two goals each: Gracyn Banks, Sydney Huang, Olivia Kenny, Allison Kuzyk, Julia Russo, and Ward. Banks, Huang and Kenny pace the team in points with six, adding two assists each.

*Sabien Paumen was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after collecting six crucial saves last Saturday against Cornell. She has started in the cage all 10 games this season, making 48 saves for four victories and two shutouts.
