PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team has named Ellie Almeida and Maxi Aranowitz its captains for the 2026 season.
 
Almeida has now been named a team captain in back-to-back seasons as she looks to lead her team to more success in her senior year.
 
She played in all 16 games last season, starting in nine, while recording a pair of assists and a defensive save.
 
Aranowitz will be a team captain for the first time in her Penn career after playing a huge part in anchoring the defense over the last two seasons in University City.
 
She started in all but one game last season as she helped anchor a back line that shut out American and Villanova.
 
"I'm excited to announce Ellie Almeida and Maxi Aranowitz as our captains for the 2026 season. Ellie and Maxi have earned the opportunity to lead through their commitment to Penn field hockey and the respect they've garnered from their teammates. I am excited to see them lead the group in the fall season and do so with a daily commitment to the standards we speak about regularly", said Head Coach Scott Tupper.
