PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team completed play at day one of the CSA Individual Championships, with seven men competing across two divisions. While the Quakers went without co-captain and first-team All-Ivy Andrew Douglas, several Quakers rose to the occasion for some incredible victories.
 
The most notable action of the day came in the A Division, that saw immediate changes with James Flynn's entry and Andrew Douglas not participating. Flynn was matched up with the top seed, Victor Crouin (Harvard), who had defeated Douglas just days ago in the Potter Cup final. Despite the task, Flynn rose the occasion, recovering from an 0-1 deficit to take out the top seed. Aly Abou Eleinen also turned in a big opening victory against a Harvard opponent, setting the stage for the two teammates to face off in the quarterfinals. In the end, Eleinen prevailed 3-1, matching Douglas's run last season to the national semifinal.
 
In the B Division, several standout performances got things moving early. The men went 4-1 in the first round, including a win from late entry Tushar Shahani, who took Flynn's original spot in the lineup. While Saksham Choudhary's unbeaten streak came to an end at 17-0, junior Yash Bhargava and freshman Dillon Huang pushed through, reaching the semifinals in their respective draws. Both are hoping to keep the fast starts going and write their names in the record books.
