Baseball Wraps Up Non Conference Slate at George Washington

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania baseball team will close out its nonconference schedule as the Quakers make their final road trip of the season for a matchup with George Washington on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the nation's capital.

THE MATCHUP
Tuesday's game will be the sixth meeting between the Quakers and the Colonials. The two teams first met in 1907, then did not meet again until a four-game series in 2013. Penn holds a 4-1 record against George Washington, winning the first game in 1907 and taking three of four in 2013.
 
NEWS AND NOTES: PENN
*Penn enters the weekend with the second-highest batting average in Division I baseball (.335). This is the fifth consecutive week the Quakers have ranked second in batting average.
 
*Against Cornell, Penn broke the program record for hits in a season. The Quakers now have 487 hits this year, shattering the previous record of 462 set in 2010 with four games still to play. Penn ranks fifth in the nation and leads the Ivy League in hits.
 
*The Quakers average more doubles per game than any other Division I program (2.76). Despite starting their season two weeks after most programs, the Quakers rank fifth in the nation with 102 doubles this season. The mark is third-most in a single season in Penn's 144-year history and six shy of the program record of 108.
 
*Penn ranks third in the nation in scoring, averaging nine runs per game. The Quakers have scored 332 runs this season, fourth most in program history.
 
*The Quakers rank second in the nation with a .426 on-base percentage. Along with Penn's 487 hits, the Red and Blue have reached base on balls 192 times. Matt O'Neill ranks second in the nation with a .541 on-base percentage and has a team high batting average (.410) as well as a program record number of walks (39) this season.
