PHILADELPHIA - Unstoppable. That was the weekend for sophomore
Eleah Parker of the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team against Yale and Brown, as the Charlotte, N.C. native led the team to a weekend sweep and more importantly, the Ivy League regular season championship.
Parker averaged 27.5 points, 12 rebounds and 3.5 blocks against the Bulldogs and the Bears, including a career-high 29 points Friday night at Yale. There, Penn relied on Parker to anchor a fourth-quarter comeback, as she tallied 10 made field goals and a career-high tying nine free throws, while collecting her ninth double-double of the season and 16th of her career. Saturday against Brown, Parker again was efficient in her attack, going 12-of-20 from the field for 26 points, with eight rebounds and three blocks. She swatted four shots against the Bulldogs, cementing herself as the nation's second leading shot blocker and ranking second in single-season blocks with 88 this year.
The Quakers will open postseason play this weekend, set to face third-seeded Harvard on March 16 at 8:30 p.m. on the campus of Yale University.
