PHILADELPHIA - The No. 3 University of Pennsylvania men's squash team (11-1, 4-0 Ivy) downed No. 5 Dartmouth on Saturday at the Kline and Specter Squash Center, 6-3. Penn's 11 wins ties for the most in program history and it improves to 4-0 in Ivy League play for the first time since 1973-74.
How it Happened
The Quakers took an early lead against the Big Green after the first shift.
Andrew Douglas,
David Yacobucci, and
Karim Hussein all got off to fast starts on their way to 3-0 victories. Douglas, Yacobucci, and Hussein each didn't lose more than five points in a single game that they played, leading to a 3-0 lead for the Red and Blue.
Aly Abou Eleinen improved to 12-0 on the season with a 3-0 win at the second slot. Abou Eleinen took the first two games, 11-5, before winning the third, 11-3, and putting the Quakers within one match of clinching.
Freshman
James Flynn then clinched the match for the Quakers with a win at number four. Flynn also swept in three games which was capped off by an 11-1 victory in the third game.
Jonathan Zeitels wrapped up the day for Penn with a win at number eight. The senior captain split the opening two games before taking the final two, 11-7, 11-8 to win 3-1 and give the Red and Blue the 6-3 victory.
What's Next
The Quakers host No. 1 Harvard for a Super Sunday at the Kline and Specter Squash Center. The top-ranked Crimson defeated Princeton on Saturday and will also be entering the match with an undefeated record in Ivy League play.
