Omar Hafez Named Finalist for 2026 Skillman Award

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's squash player Omar Hafez was named one of the three finalists for the College Squash Association's Skillman Award. The award is given annually to a senior men's squash athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship and elite play and is considered the most prestigious men's individual award presented by the CSA. Hafez joins Yale's Tad Carney and Trinity's Joachim Chuah as the three finalists.

Hafez has had one of the most decorated careers in Penn squash history, including a First-team All-Ivy selection, CSA Individual championship title and Ivy League Player of the Year honor in this year alone. Hafez is also a two-time Potter Cup winner, looking to add his third this weekend at the CSA Team Championships. He also set the record for the most career wins this season, breaking former teammate and 2025 Skillman finalist Nathan Kueh's 67 career win record.

Hafez would become the second Penn athlete to win the award, the other being current head coach Gilly Lane who was the recipient in 2007.

The winner of the 2026 Skillman Award will be announced on Friday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. during the CSA Champions Reception.
