PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team turned in another strong performance, defeating #11 Drexel 6-3. The win sealed a Pennsylvania State Championship victory for the Quakers.
The pace was set by
Saksham Choudhary, who has yet to drop a game in his collegiate career. Choudhary put the Quakers up early, before the Dragons responded with two wins of their own.
Yash Bhargava made his season debut this afternoon and didn't disappoint, tying the match at 2-2 with a big win.
However, the turning point proved to be the #1 matchup of the day as the Quakers top player
Andrew Douglas started slowly with a 2-0 deficit. However, the 2018-19 First Team All-American would not be denied, roaring back to win three consecutive games and the match.
Dillon Huang rewarded his teammates efforts winning a very tight fourth game 16-14 and securing the victory.
Two matches remained following the clinching of the victory, as
Wil Hagen and
James Flynn each played competitive five-game battles. Hagen couldn't secure a victory, but Flynn came back to win the fourth and fifth game and provide the cushion.
