Squash Opens Penn Squash Center With Wins Against Dickinson

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's squash teams opened the new Penn Squash Center in style today, as both teams defeated Dickinson, 9-0. Neither team dropped a game en route to a Pennsylvania State Championships win.

From the get-go, the Quakers were off and running, with Haley Scott winning the first match of the day and starting a thrilling opening day. The Quaker women debuted four new freshmen, all of whom appeared poised beyond their years. Two of them, Ashley Manning and Amina Abou El Enin recorded 11-0 game victories in their victories.

On the men's side, youth was also served as the Quaker men got wins from all five freshmen. The depth was tested early, but the young duo of Brian Cowhey and Alexander Trauber showed composure, clamping down to win 3-0 matches. 2018-19 First-Team All-American Aly Abou Eleinen made his season debut as well, roaring to an 11-1, 11-5, 11-1 opening victory, winning just his second career matchup in the #1 spot.

The women's squash team has now tallied their second consecutive regular season shutout of a ranked non-conference opponent dating back to last season. The Quaker men improved the all-time record against Dickinson to 8-0 in their first meeting since 1963.
