PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's swimming & diving program returned to action as the Quakers hosted Dartmouth and Yale for their second of three tri-meets this season.
The men swept Dartmouth and Yale, defeating the Big Green 227-73 and defeating the Bulldogs 191-109. The women edged Dartmouth, winning 161.5-131.5, but lost 237-63 to Yale.
News and Notes
*Penn swimmers finished first-place in 15 events, with the men taking the top spot in 14 events and the women taking one first place finish. This is the most first-place finishes by Penn swimmers in an Ivy League tri-meet since the Quakers picked up 14 victories (men 8, women 6) against Cornell and Princeton on Nov. 18, 2017.
*The Penn men's team recorded its first victory over Yale since the 2015-16 season and sixth consecutive victory over Dartmouth.
*The Penn women's team recorded its seventh consecutive victory over Dartmouth.

Thomas Dillinger set a Sheerr Pool record in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 2:58.31.
Reviewing the Penn Men
The Quakers got off to a good start on Friday night.
John-Michael Diveris (281.15) edged Yale's Christian Devol (280.05) for second-place in the 1-meter dive.
James Hopper (338.85) and
Andrew Bologna (331.95) followed with a 1-2 finish in the 3-meter dive to give Penn an early edge before the swimming events.
The Quakers continued where they left off as a team of Blinstrub, Andrew, Lee, and Dillinger won the 200 medley relay (1:29.13). The B team consisting of Zach Althoff,
Boris Yang, Eric Detrich, and Nathanial Cunnan came in third (1:32.25).
Will Thomas earned Penn's first individual victory of the day, winning the 1,000 free (9:26.46).
Jacob Furlong finished third (9:36.68).
Blinstrub earned the Quakers another victory as he clocked in at 49.64 in the 100 back. He would later win the 200 back (1:49.20), edging Yale's Cristian Bell by just over one second.
Andrew (55.48) and
Boris Yang (55.65) recorded a 1-2 finish in the 100 breast. The pair got their second 1-2 finish on the day in the 200 breast, with Andrew again finishing first (2:02.00) Yang finishing a fraction behind (2:02.09).
Lee got the Quakers their eighth victory of the meet, winning the 200 fly (1:47.40). Dillinger picked up his first solo victory of the day as he edged Yale's Henry Gaissert in the 50 free (20.22). He earned his second, winning the 100 free with a time of 43.89.
Will Thomas got back in on the action, earning Penn its 11th victory of the meet and his second of the meet after winning the 500 free (4:31.14).
William Kamps took third place (4:33.95).
Lee picked up his second solo win of the day as he took first place in the 100 fly (48.51). Yang rounded out the individual events with a first-place finish in the 200 IM (1:52.92) with Kamps edgint Yale's Andrew Schuler by three tenths of a second to take second-place (1:53.54).
The Quakers closed out the meet with a huge win in the 400 free relay, as a team of Lee, Andrew, Blinstrub, and Dillinger set a Sheerr Pool record, clocking in at 2:58.31.
Reviewing the Penn Women
Juliette Pozzuoli started the meet for Penn with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a final score of 228.40.
The Quakers started the swimming events strong, as a team of
Hannah Kannan,
Rachel Maizes,
Monika Burzynska, and
Wendy Yang finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:45.24).
Freshman
Catherine Buroker took second place in the 1,000 free (10:18.27), while Kannan took third in the 100 back (57.00).
Serena Xue took third-place in the 200 breast, clocking in at 2:21.56, before freshman
Monika Burzynska picked up the Quakers' first victory of the day, taking first in the 100 fly (55.62).
Penn closed out the meet as a team of Tara Larusso,
Mollie Westrick,
Katie Kiely, and
Emily Layne finished fourth in the 400 free relay.
What's Next
The Quakers are up again next weekend as they travel to Cambridge, Mass. for their last Ivy League tri-meet of the season as they take on Harvard and Brown.
