PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving team rounded out its Ivy League tri-meet schedule this Saturday in Cambridge. The men split the results as they defeated Brown 174.50-125.50 but lost 198-102 to Harvard. The women fell to Harvard 222-78, and were defeated by Brown 218-82.
Reviewing the Penn Men
The Quakers had some strong showings from their senior leaders early in the meet.
Mark Andrew took first in the 100 breast (55.29) while
Mark Blinstrub finished second in the 100 back (49.76).
Sophomore
Sean Lee picked up Penn's second win of the day as he finished first in the 200 fly (1:46.47). He later finished first in the 100 fly (48.19).
Thomas Dillinger took a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 (20.49) and 100 free (44.72) before winning the 200 IM (1:49.14).
Boris Yang nabbed another second-place finish for the Quakers in the 200 breast (2:02.48) with Andrew finishing third (2:05.24). Freshman
CJ Hinckley took third in the 1,000 free (9:29.06).
In the diving events,
John-Michael Diveris finished third in the 1-meter (251.40).
Andrew Bologna later finished third in the 3-meter (276.05).
Reviewing the Penn Women
Catherine Buroker continued the good start to her collegiate career, finishing third in the 1,000 free (10:17.84). Fellow freshman
Hannah Kannan also took a third-place finish, clocking in at 57.21 in the 100 back.
Serena Xue finished third in the 100 breast (1:06.38), before taking second in the 200 breast (2:20.33).
What's Next?
Penn swims in its final dual meet of the season as the Quakers take a short trip to West Chester for a meeting with the Rams on Saturday, Jan. 26 at noon.
