Celebrating Seniors

Sunday marks senior day for the Red and Blue. Prior to the finale against the Big Red, Jurie Joyner, Molly Oretsky, Katie Petroski, and Mason Spichiger will be honored for their contributions to the softball program.

* Jurie Joyner

Jurie has become one of the best hitters in the history of the Penn softball program. She currently ranks fourth on the all-time home runs list, and sixth in RBI and career doubles. She immediately had an impact joining the squad winning Ivy League Rookie of the Year and was selected Unanimously for first-team All-Ivy. Throughout her career she has totaled 145 hits, 96 RBI, and 40 runs scored.

* Molly Oretsky

A four-year starter, Molly has been a staple at third-base with a fielding percentage of .942. As a sophomore she won the team's coaches award and was named a NFCA Scholar-Athlete her junior year. The last two seasons she has 50-hits with a batting average of .327.

* Katie Petroski

Katie appeared in 31 games as a freshman making 15 starts. She once again had 15 starts as a sophomore when she registered her first home run, a grand slam against Army West Point. A full-time starter her junior year, she didn't make a single error in the outfield and earned the team's Coaches Award. With her seven stolen bases this season, she helped the team to a top-50 national ranking in the category. Her two home runs and 10 RBI are also career highs.

* Mason Spichiger

Starting her Penn career in the circle as a reliever, Mason has become the ace on the pitching staff. This season she has a 4.02 ERA and 30 strikeouts for a third straight year.  She's pitched seven complete games in her career and has recorded five saves. As a junior she was named a team captain and posted a career-high 10 strikeouts against Fort Wayne. This season she has thrown in 61 innings in 14 appearances while holding opponents to a .301 batting average.
