Softball Continues Ivy Slate at Penn Park Against Dartmouth

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania softball team continues the Ivy slate this weekend as they host Dartmouth at Penn Park for a three game series. The Quakers will play the Big Green in a double-header on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. and wrap up with a single game Sunday also starting at 12:30 p.m. Penn will look to bounce back after taking one of three last weekend against Columbia.

About Penn

* Penn returns to action for the first time since last weekend and will have had plenty of time to rest after playing 15 games in 16 days. The Quakers were supposed to play La Salle on Wednesday but the game was postponed due to weather.

* The Quakers come in to this weekend's Ivy series with a 3-12 record on the season. Eight of their 12 losses have come in extra innings.

* The Red and Blue are 1-2 in Ivy play this season. They took one of three last weekend against Columbia with their two losses coming in extra innings.

* The Quakers split the two meetings to Dartmouth last season. The win came in extra innings after Sarah Cwiertnia singled to center field, bringing in Jessica England for the walk-off.

* At Penn Park, the Quakers are 2-2 thus far this year. The two wins have come to Lafayette and Columbia.

* The opening game against Dartmouth marks the fifth of what will be an eight game home stand. The Quakers will head on the road for the first time in almost a month next weekend as they travel to Brown.

* Penn trails in the all-time series as they are 28-30 against the Big Green, but lead the series at home as they are 14-12.

* Lucy Yang has impressed early on in her freshman season. Yang ranks first in the Ivy League in batting WAR as she leads the team with three home runs and runs scored. She is also second on the team in hits and on-base percentage. Yang has accounted for 24.5% of the team's RBI's as she has 13.

* Freshman Tabitha Dyer has also been strong at the plate as she leads the team in hits with 14.

* Since coming back after the trip to Florida, Cwiertnia has been one of the more consistent bats for the Quakers. She is 10/15 at the plate for a .667 batting average.

* Abigail Abramson has pitched two of the three wins for the Red and Blue. She is second on the team's pitching staff in strikeouts (23) and ERA (5.17).

Previewing Dartmouth

* The Big Green return from playing down south for the first time this season. Dartmouth has been playing in Florida, Arkansas, and Texas for the last three weeks.

* Dartmouth has played 17 games this season going 6-11.

* Micah Schroeder leads the team in hits and batting average.

* Shelby Wilkinson has been the ace in the circle for the Big Green. Wilkinson has a 3-5 record and a 3.05 era in 11 appearances.
