Men's Soccer Concludes Non-Conference vs. Delaware

PHILADELPHIA - No rest for the weary. Just over 48 hours after a dramatic double-overtime win against Brown, the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team will play its final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 30, hosting Delaware. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Rhodes Field.

MATCH DAY 14 - Delaware (5-9-1, 4-3-1 CAA) at Penn (3-4-6, 1-3-1 Ivy League)
Tuesday, October 30 | 7 p.m. | Rhodes Field | Live Stats | ESPN+

Series Information
Penn leads 2-0-2 | Last meeting: 2017 (Penn, 3-1)

The Quakers maintain an unbeaten record all-time against the Blue Hens, sporting two draws and two wins. After the two teams played in back-to-back years in 1996 and 1997, the series took a 19 year break before resuming in 2016 on Rhodes Field. There, Penn battled a NCAA Tournament-bound Delaware team to a 2-2 draw. Last season, the Quakers exploded for a 3-1 win on the road, using goals from current members of the team Jerel Blades, Erumuse Momoh and Joe Swenson to ride to victory.

Good Times in Overtime
All three of Penn's wins this season have come past the 90-minute mark. Most recently, the Quakers defeated Ivy League foe Brown on Sunday, stunning the Bears with a goal just 49 seconds into the second overtime period to claim the victory. Earlier this year, the Red and Blue defeated Monmouth, 3-2, to open the 2018 campaign in overtime, and Penn also shocked Marquette in overtime on the road in September. Overall, 10 of Penn's 13 matches this season have ventured into overtime.

Rookie of the Week Rovito
Freshman Anthony Rovito was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday following the first points of his collegiate career. The Somerset, N.J. native connected with sophomore Alex Touche on the first goal of the match for the Quakers against Brown in the 56th minute.

Touche's Touch
Sophomore defender Alex Touche has been clutch for the Quakers this season, leading the team with three goals on the year. All three of Touche's scores have come on headers inside the box, as the center back is not afraid to venture up into an attacking position when the time is right.

Kohlbrenner Catching Fire
Jake Kohlbrenner has caught on offensively of late for Penn, scoring in the Quakers' last two Ivy League tilts. Against Yale, the sophomore found himself with the ball in the box off a set piece in the 84th minute, sending it to the back of the net for the late equalizer. Against Brown, the New York native ripped a shot off the hands of the keeper into the far post to seal the Penn victory.

Scott's Shutouts
The Quakers have featured a vastly improved defensive unit in 2018, thanks to strong play from their four defenders, as well as from senior goalkeeper Scott Forbes in between the pipes. Forbes is in the midst of his best season with the Red and Blue, boasting a save percentage of .838, ranking first in the Ivy League and 10th nationally in the category. Forbes is one of three keepers in the Ivy League with a goals against average of less than one per game. As a team, Penn's shutout percentage of 0.462 is 24th nationally.

Lending a Helping Hand (Foot)
Junior captain Brandon Bartel has been a stalwart piece of Penn's squad this year, playing nearly every minute on the field and consistently appearing to forge together the Quakers' set piece opportunities on both corner and free kicks. The native Floridian notched the game-winning assist in Penn's win over Brown, his fourth of the season, ranking second in the Ivy League.

Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware enters Tuesday's match at 5-9-1 overall, but has rebounded from a tough non-conference slate to earn a spot in the CAA Tournament following a 4-3-1 mark in league play. To this point, the two sides have played one common opponent in Drexel, as Penn drew with the Dragons, 0-0, while Delaware defeated Drexel in Philadelphia 2-1 in overtime. Freshman Timo Hummrich leads the squad with eight points on four goals this season, while senior goalkeeper Todd Morton has been a stalwart between the pipes, playing over 1,180 minutes with a save percentage of .603.
