PHILADELPHIA - Field Hockey recently presented their end of the year team awards at their annual banquet to culminate and celebrate the accomplishments of the 2016 season. Additionally, head coach Colleen Fink handed out three awards to recognize individual achievement given annually as part of the Penn field hockey tradition.
Junior Alexa Hoover was presented with the Anne Townsend Award as the team’s most valuable player. Hoover was selected as a NFHCA Second Team All-American, First-Team NFHCA All-Region (Mid-Atlantic), and All-ECAC and first-team All-Ivy honoree this season after she finished the campaign with a team-high 15 goals and seven assists. On October 2, she tallied the 45th and 46th goals of her career to become Penn’s all-time leading goal scorer and now stands atop both the goals (56) and points (131) lists in the Quaker record books.
Alexa Schneckwas presented with the Gail Lipstein Award as the most outstanding freshman. Schneck received Second Team All-Region honors and was also chosen as a Second-Team All-Ivy honoree to cap a terrific first season with the Quakers in 2016. Three of those scores were game-winners in victories against LIU Brooklyn, Dartmouth (2OT), and Columbia.
