PHILADELPHIA - After starting Ivy League play with a 1-1 draw at home, the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team will briefly shift its focus away from the Ancient Eight for a Wednesday match at Delaware. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium in Newark, Del.

PREVIEWING PENN
*Last time out, the Quakers battled to a 1-1 draw against Cornell in their opening Ivy League contest of the fall. Penn scored first in the 19th minute on a deflected save that fell to the boot of
Jerel Blades who knocked it in high to the top of the net. The goal was Blades' first of the season, with assists going to
Joe Swenson and
Jake Kohlbrenner.
*The Quakers are looking for their first road win of the season. Penn went 2-3-4 on the road last year.
*Penn has looked to a core six to lead the way in minutes played this fall in
Sam Wancowicz, Swenson, Blades,
Gavin Barger,
Brandon Bartel and
Erumuse Momoh. All have started and played in every game for the Red and Blue.
*Wancowicz leads the squad with 15 shots this fall, including one on target and one goal. A total of four Quakers have scored Penn's five goals this year.
*Kohlbrenner,
Wes Maki and
Alex Touche have emerged as solid rookie competitors for Penn, as each have played a pivotal role of late for the Quakers. Kohlbrenner and Maki both spend time on offense for Penn, with Kohlbrenner slotted as the high forward with Maki on the wing, while Touche has settle into the center back position on the back line.
*In the cage, the Red and Blue have split time evenly between
Scott Forbes and
Etan Mabourakh, with both juniors owning four starts to their name. Mabourakh has the better GAA of the two, allowing 1.42 goals a game.
NEWS AND NOTES: DELAWARE
*The Blue Hens sport a 5-2-2 overall record entering Wednesday's contest, including a 2-1-1 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association. Delaware and Penn share two common opponents so far this fall in Seton Hall and Drexel, with Delaware owning two wins over the pair to Penn's two losses. The Blue Hens are on a three-match unbeaten streak with two wins and a draw under their belt.
*Wednesday's match marks just the fourth all-time meeting between the two sides, with Penn owning a 1-0-2 mark against the Blue Hens. The squads met a year ago at Rhodes Field, trading leads before settling for a 2-2 draw.
*Delaware is led by seven points from Fede Prieto on three goals and an assist. Four Blue Hens have tallied two goals each on the year, while John Schroeder owns three assists to his name. In the net, Todd Morton has started and played all nine games, owning 35 saves and a GAA of 0.72.
