Nguyen Selected to USA Swimming 2026-27 National Team Roster

PHILADELPHIA – Watson Nguyen of the University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving team was named to USA Swimming's 2026-27 National Team roster on Tuesday, the organization announced.

The Dallas, Texas native is one of 101 swimmers to earn a place competing for the United States, and he's the sole representative of the Ivy League. National Team members were selected based on results from the 2025-26 swim season, ranging from Sept. 1, 2025, to Aug. 31, 2026.

Nguyen's selection to the 55-swimmer men's roster comes following an impressive summer competing for his club, Metroplex Aquatics. Back in July, the junior traveled to Irvine, Calif. for the USA Swimming National Championships where he turned heads. Nguyen competed in the 50-meter breaststroke on July 30 and became the second Quaker in program history to capture a long-course national title with a personal-best mark of 26.65. He also finished third in the 100-meter breaststroke, clocking a time of 59.79. Nguyen's new mark in the 50-meter event shaved more than eight-tenths of a second off his previous personal best and he ranks fourth all-time among Americans.

He was equally impressive in the pool during his sophomore campaign in University City, earning first-team All-Ivy laurels in the 100 and 200 breaststroke during Ivy League Championships this past February. Nguyen capped off his second season as a Quaker with a first career appearance at NCAA Championships, placing 26th in the 200 breaststroke and 28th in the 100 breaststroke.
