PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's lightweight crew is bringing the Wood-Hammond Trophy back to Boathouse Row after beating Princeton in the Varsity Eights race Saturday. Penn has now won the Wood-Hammond the last three times they have raced for it on Lake Carnegie, the first time that has happened in program history.

Varsity Eight (Wood-Hammond Trophy)
The Quakers jumped out quickly in the middle lane and never let up. The host Tigers stayed in contact with the Red and Blue throughout but could never overcome that early deficit as Penn won by about half a boat length.

Second Varsity Eight
The Quakers had an early lead and held it until about the race's midpoint, but the Tigers roared through their opponent in the third 500 and pulled away from there. The margin was almost exactly a boat length at the finish line.

Penn jumped out quickly in this race and held the slightest lead early, but Princeton was in front by the 500 mark and kept extending it from there, eventually getting the slightest bit of open water in the final 500 before winning by almost exactly a boat length.

Fourth Varsity Eight
Another race where the Quakers led early on but the Tigers took over by the 500 mark and never looked back. The Red and Blue never allowed their hosts to pull away, but they could not make up the early deficit in losing by a little more than half a boat length.
