How It Happened
On Senior Day, the Quakers bounced right back after yesterday's tough loss when
Gigi Ganje delivered a lead off home run in the bottom of the first. It was her first home run at Penn Park this season.
Following a run scored by Cornell in the third, Penn turned it on in the fourth.
Gigi Ganje hit her second home run of the day, delivering three runs. Other RBIs from
Jaz Johnson and
Ella Utschig made it a six-run game.
The seniors that batted today found success at the plate, with
Dani Freer hitting two base hits,
Jade Montgomery hitting two of her own, and
Delaney Smith with one hit.
Cornell would not be deterred, with pinch-hitter Olivia Green knocking a two-run shot to cut the deficit to four.
Down that same four in the top of the seventh, lightning struck twice for Cornell. The Big Red scored five in the inning to claim the 8-7 win. Pinch-hitter Wolfe brought two runs across the dish before two consecutive errors gave the Big Red the runs they needed to close this one out.
