#17 WLAX Closes Homestand With #13 Loyola Maryland on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team closes its season-opening homestand on Saturday, Feb. 28, hosting #13 Loyola Maryland for a 1 p.m. battle at Franklin Field.

The Penn vs. Loyola Series
*Loyola may hold the all-time advantage with a 19-7 lead, but Penn owns the last three matchups.
 
*The Quakers claimed the most recent win last season, topping the Greyhounds 12-10 on the road. Keeley Block, Anna Brandt, and Gracie Smith all netted hat tricks in the win.

*Penn carries a two-game skid into Saturday's contest, falling 14-9 to Temple on Wednesday.
 
*Juniors Catherine Berkery and Regan O'Brien led the charge for Penn against the Owls, tallying three points each. Patricia Columbia-Walsh, Lela Greene, Quinny Handley, and Mary Sack also hit the back of Temple's net.
 
*Attacker Berkery has been an offensive force through three games, leading Penn with ten goals and 11 points.
 
*Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk has been solid in the cage to open the year, stopping 19 shots on the year.
 
*Sophomore Sedransk is pegged to have a strong second year earning Third Team USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse Third Team Preseason All-American as well as a spot on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
 
*Junior Maggie Bankowski has been a force in the X for the Red and Blue, winning 27 draw controls on the year.
 
*Programs alumnae Abby Bosco, midfielder Brandt, Grace Fujinaga, and Gabby Rosenzweig kick off the 2026 WLL Championships series this weekend.
 
Scouting the Greyhounds
*The Greyhounds have had a tough start to the 2026 season, playing in their fifth top-20 battle this weekend in University City. The sole ranked win so far for Loyola came back on February 21 against #9 Princeton (14-10).
 
*Elisa Faklaris leads Loyola's offense in goals (16), and points (17), while Lauren Perfetto leads the team in assists (7) through five games.
 
*The Quakers will likely face Kennedy Buntrock in the cage on Saturday. The keeper holds a 13.68 goals-against average, a .269 save percentage, and 18 saves on the young season.
