PHILADELPHIA – Welcome to University City! The Lois S. Leitner Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, Karin Brower, announced the hiring of Madison Carter as an assistant coach to the program on Wednesday morning.
 
"We are incredibly excited about welcoming Madison to our coaching staff," exclaimed Brower. "She was an outstanding player at Penn State, and throughout her coaching career she has gained a wealth of experience at several successful programs. Madison has a tremendous passion for player development and has a keen offensive mind.
 
"What excites me most is her philosophy on offense. She teaches players to read defenses, make great decisions, and adapt throughout the course of a game. Her goal is to build a balanced attack with multiple scoring threats, making us more difficult to defend and allowing our players to showcase their skills in creative ways.
 
"I know our student-athletes will embrace the knowledge, energy, and passion Madison brings every day. She will challenge them to grow individually while helping us build an offense that is dynamic, unselfish, and capable of scoring in a variety of ways. I have no doubt she will make an immediate impact on our program, and we couldn't be happier to welcome her to our family."
 
Carter spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at UConn, helping lead the Huskies to three straight Big East Tournament appearances.
 
"I am incredibly grateful to Coach Karin Brower for the opportunity to join the University of Pennsylvania Women's Lacrosse program," said Carter. "I am excited to work alongside an outstanding coaching staff and contribute to a program that competes at the highest level. I can't wait to get to work and help build on the continued success of this storied program."
 
Prior to her time with the Huskies, Carter spent three years as a member of the inaugural staff at Clemson, assisting in all facets of starting the lacrosse program. On the field, Carter coached the offensive and draw units. In the first two years of competing, Madison helped develop US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American draw specialist, Ella Little, in addition to coaching three players to the All-ACC Freshman Team. Carter started her coaching career as an assistant coach at Mercer University, helping lead her athletes to a 2021 Southern Conference Championship.
 
As a player, Carter graduated with high honors from Penn State in 2019, helping her team advance to two back-to-back NCAA final four appearances in 2016 and 2017. Madison was named B1G Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016, earned IWLCA All-American honors in 2017 and 2018, and was named captain for the Nittany Lions.
