PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Gymnastics East Conference released its weekly awards Wednesday, with University of Pennsylvania's
Manama Fofana being named Gymnast of the Week for the second straight week.
Sophomore Fofana is going back-to-back on the Gymnast of the Week award, having just earned the honor for her efforts against Bridgeport on February 1. Fofana had a career day in the Senior Day Quad against Cornell, George Washington, and William & Mary, producing a 9.925 on the balance beam. Aside from that being her career high, her 9.925 is the second highest individual beam score in program history and the highest home beam score ever. Fofana's score led the way for Penn to achieve its second highest beam score in history with a 49.375. She also added strong performances on vault (9.825) and floor (9.825) to round out her standout night.
Penn is coming off its sixth-best score in history of a 196.000 and will look to keep it going on February 15 when they play host to Towson and West Chester.
