Gymnastics Looks to Towson, California as GEC Regular Season Comes to a Close

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team eyes the end of the regular season as they travel to Towson, Maryland and Berkeley, California for two final quad meets.

California Dreamin'
* This will be the first time in program history the Quakers will make their way to California for a meet. The meet will consist of Cal, Washington, and UC Davis.
 
Leading the Way
* With the GEC regular season coming to close, the Quakers currently sit atop the rankings with a 195.183 average. Yale and Brown come second and third with a 194.317 and 193.681, respectively.
 
Quaker Notemeal
* Junior Jordan Barrow earned her second GEC Gymnast of the Week award this week. She placed first at the Pink Invitational on the beam to help secure the honor.
* The Quakers are eyeing their fifth-straight GEC title this week, with two more meets to accomplish the feat.
 
Road to Nationals Rankings
* The Quakers sit at #39 in the Road to Nationals rankings. Of the opponents scheduled this weekend, California ranks #16, Maryland ranks #28, Washington at #38, Towson at #41, GWU #57, and UC Davis at #58.
* Penn ranks third in the Northeast Regional rankings on the balance beam with an average score of 48.850.
 
Scouting the Terrapins
* The Terps enter Friday's meet with a record of 13-6. They have wins over George Washington, Long Island, New Hampshire, Washington, Illinois, Western Michigan, and Nebraska.
* In their last meet, the Terps took down the Ball State, Cornell, and Temple with a 196.225.
 
Scouting the Tigers
* The Tigers enter Friday's meet with a record of 11-11. They've beaten West Chester, Long Island, Ursinus, George Washington, Eastern Michigan, Fisk, and Temple.
* In their latest meet, the Tigers placed third with a team score of 195.000. They took down Temple at the same meet Penn competed in last Thursday.
 
Scouting the Revolutionaries
* The Revolutionaries enter this meet with a record of 9-14. They have wins over Long Island, Temple, Texas Woman's, Yale, and Fisk among others.
* In their last meet, GWU placed third among three, falling to New Hampshire and Bowling Green with a 191.125.
 
Scouting the Golden Bears
* The Bears enter this meet with a record of 13-4. They have wins over Washington, Oregon State, Michigan State, Kentucky, and Pittsburgh among others.
* In their last meet, the Bears took down Boise State with a 197.225.
 
Scouting the Huskies
*  The Huskies enter Sunday's meet with a record of 3-11. They have wins over Ohio State, Rutgers, and Oregon State.
* In their last meet, the Huskies fell just short against Southern Utah with a 195.550.
 
Scouting the Aggies
* The Aggies enter this meet with a record of 4-12. They have wins over Sacramento State, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Western Michigan, and William & Mary.
* In their last meet, the Aggies fell to Sacramento State with a 192.550
