Gymnastics Announces Staffing Updates For 2026 Season

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team has announced the addition of Johanny Sotillo-Alston as a volunteer assistant coach to the 2026 staff. Coach Casey Zacot has also added the title of Recruiting Coordinator.

Coach Sotillo-Alston joins Penn after spending the 2025 season with Air Force as an assistant coach, helping guide the Falcons to a five-win season, including wins over #32 Utah State and #49 San Jose State.

Prior to joining the Falcons, Sotillo-Alston spent time as an assistant coach at the Iowa Gymnastics Academy from 2016-2018. She spent three years working with Atlantic Coast Gymnastics from 2018-2021, as well as stops in Littleton's 5280 Gymnastics Club (2022) and Willmoor Gymnastics (2022-2024).

Sotillo-Alston brings Power 4 experience as a former Iowa Hawkeye, where she competed on the uneven bars and balance beam from 2013-2016.

On the other side of the staffing updates, Coach Casey Zacot steps into the role of Recruiting Coordinator this season.

Zacot enters her fifth year at Penn as assistant coach, helping guide the Quakers to four-straight conference titles, including back-to-back "trebles" (Ivy Classic title, GEC regular season title, and GEC Championship title) in 2024 and 2025.

Zacot has worked with the vault and bars units at Penn and will now look to build the future of the program as Recruiting Coordinator.
