PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Big 5 has announced its All-Big 5 teams and postseason honors for the 2024-25 men's basketball season, and Sam Brown was voted second-team All-Big 5 by the city's head coaches.

Brown—who also was a second-team All-Ivy selection this season—played in all 27 games for Penn this season and tied for the team lead with 26 starts, averaging 13.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game and adding 61 assists, 20 steals and 52 three-point baskets. He led the Quakers in scoring in six different games and was third on the team with 19 double figure scoring games including four with 20 or more. In Ivy play, the sophomore was tops among all Ancient Eight players in scoring (19.3 ppg) and free-throw percentage (.891), second in 3FG percentage (.430), and sixth in both 3FG per game (2.6) and assist/turnover ratio (2.28).
 
Of particular note, Brown made history on the final Ivy League weekend of the season when he scored 42 points in the Quakers' 92-87 win at Columbia. It was just the fourth 40-point game in program history and most by a Penn player since Hassan Duncombe dropped 44 on Navy on December 8, 1989.
 
Villanova's Eric Dixon was voted the Big 5 Player of the Year and also was the Big 5's leading scorer, while La Salle's Deuce Jones was the Rookie of the Year and Billy Lange (Saint Joseph's) was voted the Coach of the Year. Drexel's Cole Hargrove was named the Most Improved Player, and Saint Joseph's doubled up as Justice Ajogbor was named the Scholar-Athlete Award recipient while Xzayvier Brown earned the honor as the Big 5's top free-throw shooter.
