Fonseca, Adams Earn All-Ivy Recognition in Men's Golf

PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has announced its All-Ivy teams and postseason honors for the 2024-25 men's golf season, and the University of Pennsylvania had two players honored by the Ancient Eight coaches as sophomore Max Fonseca was a second-team All-Ivy selection while classmate Hayden Adams received honorable mention recognition.

This is the first year the All-Ivy teams were voted on by the coaches; previously they had been determined by one's finish at the Ivy League Championship.

Fonseca played 25 rounds across 11 tournaments this season and had a team-low 74.0 stroke average, finishing the season 2.76 above par per round. He was the Quakers' low scorer four times this year and was second among Penn players five other times. That included the Ivy League Championship, where he tied for second among Quakers and t-20th overall. Fonseca had five top-10 finishes including two in the top four. The sophomore had five even-par rounds and went under par three times in 2024-25, and his low round was a 6-under-par 66 at the Savannah Intercollegiate—the first round of Penn's spring season.

Adams, meanwhile, also played in all 11 tournaments and was right behind Fonseca with a 74.1 stroke average across his 25 tournament rounds. He was the Quakers' low scorer in each of the last four events this season including the Ivy League Championship last weekend, where he shot 73-73—146 (+6) and placed 13th individually. Adams had three top-seven finishes this season, going t-3rd at the Big 5 Championship to wrap up the fall, t-6th at Seattle University's Redhawk Invitational, and seventh at Columbia's Roar-EE Invitational. Adams had three under-par rounds in 2024-25, three even-par rounds, and shot a 68 twice this season (4-under-par at the Roar-EE Invitational, 3-under-par at the Redhawk Invitational).

In addition to Fonseca and Adams earning All-Ivy honors, senior George Roessler was recognized as the program's Academic All-Ivy selection.

Princeton's Riccardo Fantinelli was a unanimous selection by the coaches as the Ivy League Player of the Year, while Columbia's Grant Lester was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. The Princeton and Columbia coaches were voted co-Coaching Staffs of the Year.

Penn's season concluded with the Ivy League Championship, which ran last Friday through Sunday at Rolling Green Golf Club in nearby Springfield, Pa.
