Rankings Hold at Adams Cup Racing as Heavies Push Harvard

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight crew took second place to Harvard on a day with several great races, the Quakers matching up with the Crimson and the U.S. Naval Academy on the Charles River.

Harvard won the four races that featured all three crews, while Navy's Fifth Varsity Eight bested Penn by just 2.3 seconds in a two-boat race.
 
The Quakers kept contact with Harvard in three of the top four boats, falling by just 3.1 seconds in the Varsity Eights race; by two seconds in the Second Varsity Eights race, and by just 1.9 seconds in the Fourth Varsity Eights race. Rankings held through the racing among the top three boats.

Penn will be on the Cooper River next Friday and Saturday, racing against Holy Cross, Oregon State and Cornell. The Madeira Cup and Wray Cup will be in play in the races with the Big Red, which are slated to be contested on Saturday.
