SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team is in sixth place after the first day of the Ivy League Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event is taking place this weekend on the par-70 course at Rolling Green Golf Club.

Penn shot 22-over-par 302 as a team in Friday's first round. Princeton holds the team lead after the first day; the Tigers finished at 1-under-par 279 which has them nine strokes ahead of Harvard (288) and Cornell (288).
Individually, sophomore
Hayden Adams was Penn's low scorer on Friday; he carded a 3-over-par 73 which had him tied for 14th in a field of 35 golfers. Senior
George Roessler shot a 75 and is tied for 17th and was tied as the low player in par-5 scoring on Friday (4.00, -3). Sophomore
Max Fonseca carded a 76 while senior
Ben Scott and junior
Steven Lee both shot 78.
Princeton's Riccardo Fantinelli is the individual leader after Friday's action; he shot a 3-under-par 67 and is two strokes ahead of five golfers tied at 1-under-par 69.
