SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team led through the first round and for much of the second round Monday afternoon, but Drexel overtook the Quakers late to win the team title at the Columbia Spring Invitational. The 12-team, 36-hole event took place locally for the Red and Blue, on the par-70 course at Rolling Green Golf Club.

Penn shot 295 in Monday's morning round, which had the Quakers three strokes ahead of Drexel heading into the afternoon. The Red and Blue then carded 298 in the final round while the Dragons shot 292 to earn the three-shot victory. Manhattan was third, 10 strokes behind Penn, while the other Ivy League team in the field (host Columbia) tied for eighth at 609.
Junior
Hayden Adams once again led the way for the Quakers; he shot 71-74 to finish at 5-over-par 145. That left him third in a field of 70 golfers. Drexel players took the top two spots in the field ahead of Adams, John Keba shooting 73-69 to finish at 2-over-par 142 which left him a stroke ahead of his teammate Caleb Taylor. In addition to his third-place score, Adams tied for second in par-3 scoring (3.00) and tied for fourth with six birdies.
Classmate
Max Fonseca tied for fifth overall, carding 7-over-par 147, while
Wesley Hu shot Penn's second-best score in the morning and finished the day tied for 22nd at 151 (+11). They were among four golfers who tied for second in par-4 scoring (4.15) and Hu also tied for fourth in birdies with six.
Henry Chen tied for Penn's low round on Monday afternoon (3-over-par 73) and tied for 34th overall; he tied for second in the field with 23 pars on the day.
Kayden Wang scored for the Quakers in the morning session and ended the day at 162 (+22).
Up Next
Penn will be back in action again next Monday and Tuesday, competing in Villanova's Wildcat Spring Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Galloway (N.J.) National Golf Club.
