Lightweights Sweep Yale, Columbia to Retain Dodge, Colgan Cups

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's lightweight crews retained both the Dodge Cup and the Colgan Cup on Saturday, overcoming blustery and cold conditions on the Cooper River to defeat Yale and Columbia across three races late Saturday morning.

Penn's second-ranked 1V8 won its race by nearly three seconds to win the Marcellus Hartley Dodge Cup for the second straight year. That culminated a day that saw the Quakers sweep the Bulldogs in three races and the Lions in two, Penn using fast starts in all three races to jump in front and then never looking back in taking the victories.
