PHILADELPHIA— The University of Pennsylvania softball team dropped their final game of the Purple Classic at Grand Canyon University against University of Nevada – Las Vegas earlier today. With the loss, the Quakers fell to 1-10 on the season.

Final: UNLV 9, Penn 2
UNLV started the scoring early, putting up a run in the top of the first inning with a double from Diamond Sefe to score Ariana Martinez. The scoring for the Rebels continued in the second inning, Kailani Olivas laying down a successful sacrifice bunt to score Gwyn Burnett. Morales later sent a single through the right side, scoring Maddie Scott. In the third, UNLV added another run when Maggie Vasa stole home on a throw to second base. By the end of the third, the Rebels led the Quakers, 4-0.

In the top of the fourth, UNLV added two more runs to their total. When Penn stepped to the plate in the bottom of the inning, Jade Montgomery put the first run on the board with a moonshot to left field. Getting some small ball offense going, Lexi Youngren sent a single into left field to score Maia Hartley and add another run for the Quakers. At the end of the fourth, UNLV led Penn, 6-2.

In the fifth inning, the Rebels put the game out of reach. Scott sent a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Jesse Farrell. Morales later sent a single to shortstop, allowing Vasa to come home. In the sixth, Farrell sealed the game for UNLV with a double down the left field line to score Karmyna Becerra, giving the Rebels their ninth run of the game.
