UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team is tied for 13th place after the first day at the Redhawk Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is being hosted by Seattle University on the par-71 course at Chambers Bay.

Penn shot 297 in Monday's first round and followed up with a 303 in the afternoon. That left the Quakers at 600 for the day, tied with UC Santa Barbara in the 18-team field. Utah Tech and St. Thomas (Minn.) are the team leaders through Monday's action, both teams finishing the day at 577.
Hayden Adams was Penn's low scorer on Monday; the sophomore shot a 3-under-par 68 in the first round and carded a 74 in the afternoon to finish the day at even-par 142. That left him tied for eighth in a field of 100 golfers.
George Roessler carded the Quakers' low score in the afternoon, a 73, and ended the day at 9-over-par 151.
Ben Scott (74-79—153) and
Steven Lee (77-77—154) were Penn's other scorers on the day.
Vaughn McMeans of George Mason is the individual leader after Monday, as he shot 70-69 to finish the day at 3-under-par 139. That has him a shot ahead of UC Riverside's Hartej Grewal and St. Thomas's Matt Armstrong.
