How It Happened
The Lions got to work early in the Ivy League match, leading 2-0 five minutes into the first. Senior Chung cut the hole to a goal with 8:47 left of the period to get Penn on the board. The Quakers controlled most of the remaining seven minutes of the quarter, as senior Block tied the game three minutes later, followed by Lela Greene pushing the Red and Blue ahead 3-2 with less than two minutes on board. Columbia closed out the first with a free-position goal to tie things at three going into the second.

The Lions continued their pace to open the second, scoring not even two minutes in to snatch the lead back, but the Quakers exploded offensively with five-straight goals to lead 8-4 with 6:40 left of the first half. Sophomore O'Brien, freshman Kelley, Catherine Berkery, Freshman Zaremba, and Anna Brandt accounted for the five Quaker goals.

First-year Kelley kept the run going with her second tally of the day to extend the lead to five goals with 4:32 on the clock. Columbia eventually cut the run in the final minute of the second to put the game at 9-5 at the break.

The Red and Blue came out of the break with a fury as O'Brien and Block netted back-to-back goals in the second minute of the third to lengthen Penn's lead to 11-5. Sophomore Berkery scored the final goal of the period to push the Quakers' lead to seven goals with 7:30 remaining in the third. Penn's defense held strong in the quarter, as goalkeeper Sedransk made three saves in the period.

The final 15 minutes of regulation opened with Columbia finding its footing with two straight goals to put the game at 12-7 with 12 minutes remaining. Attacker Block cut the quick run with her fourth hat trick of the year to start a Quaker run that would stretch to the end of the fourth. Attacker Chung, Gracie Smith, Patricia Columbia-Walsh, and O'Brien all tacked on goals to the board to give Penn a 2-0 Ivy League record off the 18-7 win over the Lions.
