HUMBLE, Texas – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team is in ninth place out of 15 teams after the first day at the All-American Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by the University of Houston on the par-72 Tournament Course at The Golf Club of Houston.

Penn shot 295-294 across Monday's two rounds and ended the day at 13-over-par 589. Host Houston is the team leader after Monday's action, finishing the day at 555 which is ten shots ahead of Troy and 16 ahead of third-place Southern Mississippi. The other Ivy League team in the field, Yale, is 15th at 616.
Individually, senior
Ben Scott was Penn's low scorer on Monday as he shot a first-round 73 and followed up with a 1-under-par 71 to end the day at even-par 144. That has him tied for 16th in a field of 80 golfers. Sophomore
Max Fonseca shot even-par 72 Monday morning and followed up with a 74 in the afternoon to end the day at 2-over-par 146, which has him tied for 29th, while classmate
Hayden Adams followed up an even-par first round with a 76 to finish the day at 4-over-par 148.
Senior
George Roessler scored for the Quakers in both rounds on Monday and carded a 1-over-par 73 in the afternoon.
Ryan Chang was the other player in Penn's lineup.
Houston's Chi Chun Chen is the individual leader after Monday's play; he shot a 9-under-par 135 and is three strokes ahead of teammate Jacob Borow and four ahead of Troy's Jake Spencer.

The All-American Intercollegiate will wrap up with a final round tomorrow; shotgun start is at 9 a.m. and Penn will play with Louisiana-Monroe, Lamar, and Texas State.
