PRINCETON, N.J. – Watson Nguyen won the 50 breaststroke Thursday night as the Big Al Invitational kicked off at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool.
Nguyen's win came in the first individual event of the night, the sophomore clocking 23.92 seconds which had him finishing nearly a full second ahead of Princeton's Keian Lam (24.80). Penn freshman
Rohan D'Souza Larson was third, in 24.95 seconds, as the Quakers finished in four of the top seven spots.
Peter Whittington took second in the 200 individual medley on Thursday night, clocking 1:46.44 which was less than four-tenths of a second behind Princeton's Alex Townsend (1:46.08).
Henry Guo was fourth in the event, in 1:48.71.
Xavier Hill was third in the men's 50 freestyle sprint, clocking 19.87 seconds, while
Liam Campbell tied for fifth in 20.01 seconds.
James Curreri was the Quakers' top finisher in the 500 freestyle, taking sixth overall in 4:23.08.
Penn's best finishes were fourth in both relays on Thursday, the 200 free relay to start the night and the 400 medley relay to end it.
