Power, Scantlebury Earn Ivy and Big 5 Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League and Philadelphia Big 5 have announced their weekly awards in men's basketball, and the University of Pennsylvania had a solid showing as junior forward TJ Power was named Big 5 Player of the Week while freshman center Dalton Scantlebury swept both Rookie of the Week honors (sharing the Big 5 Rookie honor with Villanova Acaden Lewis).

Power earned all-tournament at the Cathedral Classic over the weekend. He scored a career-high 29 points Saturday against city rival La Salle, with 19 of them coming in the second half as Penn overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat the Explorers, 73-71. The junior added six rebounds and three assists in that game. The day before, Power posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and added six assists in a win over Merrimack. He completed his week with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists against Hofstra. For the week, Power averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 19-39 (.487) from the field—including 7-14 (.500) from beyond the arc—and 8-9 (.889) at the foul line.

Scantlebury opened the Cathedral Classic with his second double-double as a collegian, leading all players in points (22) and rebounds (13) while also blocking three shots and dishing out two assists in Penn's win over Merrimack. In Sunday's loss to Hofstra, he led the Quakers in rebounds (6) and steals (3) while adding eight points and two assists, and he recorded four points, two boards and two blocks in the Quakers' win Saturday over city rival La Salle.

Penn (5-3) will play Villanova in the Big 5 Classic championship game this Saturday; tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Next Monday, the Red and Blue will host Lafayette at The Palestra in a game that tips off at 6 p.m.
