PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's swimming and diving team opened its Ivy League slate on Saturday afternoon at Sheerr Pool, falling to Columbia, 166-134.
The Quakers won eight total events on the day, highlighted by two individual victories from sophomore transfer
Eddie Jin, who swept both the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

*Jin led the team with two individual wins, taking the 100 free in 44.53 and the 200 free in 1:36.40. He also anchored the 400 free relay squad (with
Liam Campbell,
Xavier Hill, and
Ryan McGuirk) that placed second in 3:02.67.

Aaron Jia captured the 1000 free with a time of 9:22.71 and later finished third in the 500 free (4:38.44).

Watson Nguyen posted a win in the 100 breast with a time of 53.88.

James Curreri touched first in the 200 back at 1:48.52 and added a runner-up finish in the 100 back (49.48), while teammate
Jeffrey Hou took third in 50.24.

Peter Whittington claimed victory in the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.16 and placed third in the 200 fly (1:50.03), just behind
Henry Guo (1:48.30).
*Guo earned a win in the 200 IM (1:50.43) while adding second-place finishes in both the 200 fly (1:48.30) and 100 fly (48.90).
*In diving, freshman
Jack Handelman finished fourth in both the one meter (269.78) and three-meter (257.70) events.
*The quartet of Jin, Nguyen,
Alex Fu, and
Liam Campbell opened the meet with a victory in the 200-medley relay, pacing the field to earn Penn's first win of the afternoon.
