Men’s Swimming & Diving Secures First Win by Defeating Brown, 157–143

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's swimming and diving team picked up its first victory of the 2025-26 season with a balanced performance at Sheerr Pool on Saturday, defeating Brown 157-143.
 
The meet was highlighted by seven event victories and another standout outing from Eddie Jin, who swept both of his individual freestyle events and contributed to a pair of winning relays.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Jin dominated the freestyle events once again, winning the 200 free (1:39.35) and 100 free (44.26). He also anchored the victorious 400 free relay, teaming with Jeffrey Hou, Liam Campbell, and Alex Fu to secure the win in 2:59.68.
 
*Watson Nguyen added a strong win in the 100 breast, touching first in 55.15, before finishing second in the 200 breast (2:03.53) to lead a strong group effort in that event.
 
*Henry Guo won the 200 fly in 1:48.76 to lead a Penn sweep, with Peter Whittington (1:49.88) and Max Malakhovets (1:50.42) close behind. Guo also posted second-place finishes in both the 100 fly (49.02) and 200 IM (1:51.49).
 
*Hou picked up a win for the Quakers in the 100 fly with a time of 49.01, out-touching teammates Guo (49.02) and Fu (49.08) for another 1-2-3 Penn finish. Hou also finished third in the 100 back (50.14).
 
*Whittington added a win of his own in the 200 breast (2:01.62) and later placed second in the 200 fly.
 
*In the distance free events, Aaron Jia secured runner-up finishes in both the 1000 free (9:25.40) and 500 free (4:34.39).
 
In the 200 free, Truman Armstrong earned second place with a time of 1:40.57 to complete a 1-2 Penn finish behind Jin.
 
*The Red and Blue continued to earn points in the backstroke events, with James Curreri finishing second in both the 100 back (49.32) and 200 back (1:47.12). Cooper Nicholson added a third-place finish in the 200 back.
 
*Penn also collected third-place finishes from Campbell in the 50 free (20.55), Rohan D'Souza Larson in the 100 breast (56.89), and the relay of Kevin Jiang, Ryan McGuirk, John Lieberman, and Curreri in the 400 free relay (3:05.80).
 
*The Quakers set the tone early with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as Jin, Watson Nguyen, Alex Fu, and Liam Campbell posted a winning time of 1:29.98.
