PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team heads on the road this weekend to take on Ivy League opponent Columbia and crosstown rival Temple.
The Quakers will face Columbia on Friday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. before returning to Philadelphia to face Temple at Howarth Field on Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon.

Penn vs Columbia
The Quakers are 16-12 against the Lions all-time, winning the last four matchups. The last Penn loss to Columbia came back in 2019 in a 6-5 overtime loss in New York. The Red and Blue won last year's matchup, also in overtime, at Ellen Vagelos Field, 2-1. Penn enters the game after splitting its previous two games, losing to No. 20 Brown and defeating Villanova. Columbia lost to No. 16 Yale in its last game, 4-1.
Penn vs Temple
Penn is currently on an eight game winning streak against Temple, with the last loss coming in 2010. The Quakers defeated the Owls in last year's game at Ellen Vagelos Field, 3-1. The Owls hold a 4-2 record at home this season, most recently defeating Lock Haven last Sunday, 6-0. This will be the 44th matchup between the Quakers and Owls.

Julia Ryan scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in Penn's 1-0 win over Villanova on Sunday.

*The Quakers haven't lost to Columbia since 2019 and Temple since 2010.
Scouting the Lions
*Columbia's defense has let up 157 shots to opponents this season, allowing 15.7 shots per game. However, sophomore goalkeeper Margot Houle has negated opponents from converting shots into goals. She currently ranks 10th in the country in saves per game with 7.2 per contest.
*Sophomore Jacinta Solari Etcheberry leads the lions in goals (5) and points (13).
Scouting the Owls
*Temple's offense is formidable, outscoring its opponents 35-20 this season. Senior Peyton Rieger leads the team in goals (7) and points (20), however 10 other players have also scored at least once this season for the Owls.
*The Owls' defense has recorded four shutout wins this season against Lafayette, Drexel, Quinnipiac and Lock Haven.
