CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team defeated Villanova 1-0 on Sunday, winning their fifth game of the season.
Penn bounced back after losing Friday's game to No. 20 Brown at Ellen Vagelos Field.

How it Happened
Penn's offense began the game with aggression, attempting five shots in the first quarter.
The Quaker defense also set the tone early, holding the Wildcats to just one shot at the end of the first 15 minutes.
Neither team found any offensive momentum in the first half as the scoreboard read 0-0 heading into halftime.
Penn totaled four corner shots, to Villanova's two, at the half.
The beginning of the second half was similar to the first as neither team found any fluidity offensively.
However, after almost 35 minutes of the game being scoreless,
Julia Ryan put the Quakers on top with her sixth goal of the year.
Penn's defense held Villanova to just four shots in the second half.
Ruby de Frees recorded three saves, upping her total to 53 on the season.
The Wildcats failed to respond over the next 25 minutes of play as the Quakers recorded their fifth win of the season.
