NEW YORK CITY— The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's squash teams will be on the national stage this weekend as several athletes travel to the Big Apple to compete in the 2025 College Squash Association (CSA) National Individual Championships.
The Quakers will be represented by Salman Khalil (No. 1), Omar Hafez (No. 3), Marwan Abdelsalam (No. 6), and Nick Spizzirri on the men's side, with Sohaila Ismail, Franka Vidovic, Allie Stoddard, and Savannah Ingledew on the women's side.
The entire tournament will be played in New York City, with the semifinal and final matches taking place in Grand Central Station. Both the timing and the location for the tournament are new this year, with the Grand Central Station court revered among the most iconic locations to play the sport.
All four men representing the Red and Blue secured seeding for the main tournament and will be competing against twenty-eight other athletes for the Pool Trophy. Khalil, currently ranked as the top player in the nation by the CSA, secured the #1 overall seed in the tournament. He will face off against Mateo Restrepo at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday on Court 1. Spizzirri secured the #9 seed in the tournament and will be squaring off against Cornell's Aaron Liang at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday on Court 4. Hafez, currently ranked No. 3 in the country, is seeded at #24 and will play against Colby's Inwoo Lee at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday on Court 7. Finally, freshman Abdelsalam, currently ranked No. 6 in the nation and playing in the tournament for the first time, is seeded at #30 and will face St. Lawrence's Lewis Anderson at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday on Court 2.
Three of the four Quaker women will be competing in the main tournament for the Ramsay Cup. Ismail is seeded at #4 and will square off against Stanford's Madison Ho at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday on Court 2. Ingledew is seeded at #7 and will face off against Yale's Heng Wai Wong at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday on Court 6. Vidovic, #28 seed, will open her tournament against Princeton's Charlotte Bell at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday on Court 5. Freshman Stoddard will compete in the tournament for the first time in the Holleran North bracket, seeded there at #5 and scheduled to compete against Bates's Navya Gupta at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday on Court 1.
