#5 Women's Squash Stuns #4 Stanford, Secures Semifinal Bout with #1 Trinity

PHILADELPHIA— The No. 5 University of Pennsylvania women's squash team took down No. 4 Stanford in the second day of the CSA National Team Championship tournament with a commanding 6-3 win. With the victory, the Quakers move on to the semifinal round against No. 1 Trinity tomorrow.

The Quakers looked strong from the beginning today, aiming to change the narrative of the matchup after their loss to Stanford at home earlier this season. Yoshna Singh, Sohaila Ismail, and Malak Taha took the courts in the first wave. Singh put the first point of the match on the board, playing with the poise and tenacity she has shown all season to win her match. Taha fell in her match, but Ismail made up the deficit in a five game dual with Miriam Cheng. After 44 minutes, Ismail closed out the first wave with the Red and Blue winning, 2-1.

The second wave took the courts, picking up where the first wave left off. Hailey Wong came up big with a four-game win to give Penn another point, but Yuvna Gupta quickly closed the gap with a win over Stoddard. Savannah Ingledew started her match as part of the second wave, but her five-game match wouldn't finish until after the third wave started.

Captain Jana Dweek opened the third wave of the match for the Red and Blue, earning the fourth point for the Quakers. Malak Khafagy fell in her match to Riya Navani, putting the pressure on Ingledew and Franka Vidovic to bring it home for Penn. Ingledew, originally down two-nothing to start her match, battled back to force five games. In her second straight five-game match, Ingledew fought through a hand injury to win her match and secure the Quakers' ticket to the semifinals tomorrow. Vidovic closed out the match with the sixth win for Penn in four games.
